Top 5 Video Games
March 25th, 2008
In response to Greg’s top 5 video game list of all time
http://www.gregken.com/useless/2006/08/top-5-video-games.html
here are my top 5 games of ALL TIME.
5. Phantasy Star II Genesis
I also liked Phantasy Star (Sega Master System) and Phantasy Star III very much.
This is my first favorite RPG, it was a hard choice to put this up in my top 5,
other serious candidates were
Legend of Zelda - Link to the past
![]()
Dungeons and Dragons - Warriors of Eternal Sun

the reason why i chose Phatasy Star II over these games and PSI and PSIII is because i put more hours into this game, i like the story line more, weapons, characters, all are better and more interesting. The closest one being Wonder Boy. But Wonder Boy can be completed faster.
4. Warsong You don’t even know this game, aka, Langrisser
When i was very young, about 8 to 13 years old (i totally forgot how hold i was), I competed in the Blockbuster video game tournament in San Diego CA. I was one of the winners, and won a years supply of video game rentals. I rented this game the most, over and over, trying to beat it.
It’s a battle chess style game with a pretty bad story line, great characters, heroes armies, and awesome fight scenes, maps and landscapes.
It even filters the hard core gamers from the casual gamers… casual gamers would not be able to pass level 1
3. Super Mario Kart Super Nintendo, Battle Mode
Probably the best console game ever created for it’s time. Unlimited Funability. You have no idea how many different people i have challenged. i have lost a lot in the past, but it’s really hard for me to lose to just about anyone. It is also almost impossible to survive against me for longer than 1 minute… that’s why I only play with GREEN TURTLES now, just so a match lasts a little longer.

2. Battlefield 2142 32 player Cerbere Landing
I have played this game for a total of 180:43:47 hours so far
I held several BF2142 Lan Parties
… Is the primary reason i still have a winXP partition
I’m clearly not the best player, with a low KD of 1.095 ( 7027 | 6420 )
But i blame this on hackers :P
more of my stats here http://www.2142-stats.com/BFGRemix+stats.html

This game is so fun on many different levels, for almost any mood that i’m in, i can play this game.
When i’m stressed and angry for any reason, i go blitzing flags with my BAUR-HAR (Heavy Assault Rifle) and Combat knife.
When i’m lazy and just want to unwind from work, i’ll camp the top of an enemy titan either as recon with RDX, APM, and Lambert Carbine, and setup the RDX surrounding (but not touching) an enemy squad’s spawn beacon, for 20 somethings spawn kills. with APMS around just in case they pod in from the titan. I never have to worry about ammo or health, the enemy squad members love to hand their packs over to me. Or as an engineer with a Pilium and Motion Mines to keep their aerial combat and transport vehicles from leaving the titan… just to piss them off.
When i end up in a server with a bunch of noobs, i’ll go recon with apm or rdx and active camoflauge and play Jack the Ripper… not the best example of good team play, but the adrenaline rush is worth letting your team lose.
The only reason why this game is not in the number one spot is because of the mere 180 hours of gametime… the number one spot should go to the game that i’ve played most.
A close second to this #2 position would be Enemy Territory

and Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast
1. DotA -arem
This game is probably the hardest to talk about because it isn’t really a game, it’s a Map/Mod of Warcraft III/Frozen Throne. There are sooo many websites out there devoted to this game and us hardcore players, so i don’t need to go into details, look it up yourself. I will share my impression and personal opinions though. Not many games are out there with so many hackers playing against other hackers. This game is unique and fragile in that if 2 or more players (of a maximum of 10 players, 5v5) leave, the game can be ruined, over, and many minutes to even hours of your life wasted.
There may not be a more racist gathering of people in one place.
There is an immeasurable amount of sh*t talk in DotA, many hundreds of thousands of times more offensive than in any other game i’ve seen, and i think that is due to the wide array of player ages… yes i’m talking about the little kids, the future of our world, it’s frightening.
You win through teamwork, but the majority of online fights and arguments are between players on the same team, so this is hard to manage. You also get rewarded more for doing well on your own, than with your team. many of the heroes are capable of owning the other team by hunting alone.
There are many versions of this game, the maintainers release often because of the questionable evenness of the heroes. players are often buffed (upgraded) and nerfed (downgraded) to solve a lot of these issues. With over 100 heroes, each with his own characteristics and special skills, this is almost impossible… this is also what makes the game fun.
oh and Basshunter made a Song and Music Video about Dota
Basshunter - Vi sitter i Ventrilo och spelar DotA
In -arem mode (All Random, Easy Mode), there is never a matchup the same as the last. It truly is a brand new experience every time, with the likelyhood of having a crappy ruined game (in public games).
I’m by no means one of the best players in the world, i’m just good enough to not suck, and i usually die the least, and kill the most, in public (non league) games… and i don’t hack… no seriously i don’t hack… trust me. hackers suck, that’s why they have to hack, and they still suck.
I have easily played over one thousand games, and i usually play -em games (Easy Mode) which means the game ends in between 30 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes. (very rarely do you get great games that last 2 hours, but it happens)
so lets say an average of 1 hour per game, that’s well over 1000 (probably closer to 2000) hours of gameplay in my life.
I am not a loser.
This is my sport, and I am better than you.
the reason why this game is #1 on my list is:
